Second Chance Wheels

From the auction to a new beginning.

The series follows a proposed partnership between Charles Wu and a currently incarcerated participant. Together, they will build a vehicle business while the participant is still inside.

Learn together. Make the decisions together.

Charles plans to create an LLC partnership with each participant and lend startup funds to that business. Through jail calls and video visits, the participant will help evaluate auction vehicles, consider costs and take part in the purchase.

Restore it. Put it to work.

The team will take the vehicle to the body shop, complete repairs and prepare it for rental. Turo is the planned rental platform. Aliya brings her experience as a certified mechanic; Taj contributes her car knowledge, with support from her father’s more than 20 years in car rentals.

Share the progress and the profits.

Maintenance, operating expenses, vehicle payments and repayment of the startup loan come first. The plan is to split the remaining profit equally: 50% to Charles and 50% to the incarcerated partner. Participants can use their proceeds for commissary, to support family or to reinvest in the business.

A different kind of homecoming.

The goal is to meet the partner on release day with the vehicles they helped build into a fleet—and a business they can continue growing as they start life anew.

Second Chance Wheels is a YouTube series in development. Participant partnerships, vehicles and premiere dates will be announced as the project takes shape.
